Yin & Yang: A Stitcher’s Perspective

A friend of mine and I were brainstorming on how to stitch a Yin & Yang symbol, and this piece was born. Bias Bargello was added as well as a row of large to small Jessicas that follow the curve of the design on each side of the centre motif. Each Jessica is filled with a stitch, such as Walneto, Waffle, and 3-colour Amadeus. There are larger and smaller Inverted Sprats Heads in the corners and an Alternating Tied Rice Border encases the entire design. The Background is stitched in Four-way Continental creating depth to this design. To offer bling Metallic threads are used. This is fun to stitch and will appeal to those students who would like to learn new techniques while challenging themselves by mastering complex canvaswork stitches.
Design Size: 8-1/8″ x 7-7/8″
Types of thread used: Vineyard Silk Classic, Caron Impressions and Watercolours. Finca #8 and #12 Perle Cotton, Au Ver a Soie #8 Metallic Braid, Rainbow Gallery Glisten and Neon Rays+ and DMC #12 Perle Cotton.
