“Solange” pattern
With geometric patterns inspired by multiple border designs “Solange” is a fun and exciting sampler of canvas stitches suitable for finishing as a wall hanging. The student is introduced to Intermediate and Advanced stitches while exploring fun techniques such as spirograph-type stitches, intricate layered borders, traming, laid fillings and blackwork. The project is stitched using Anchor #5, #8 Perle Cotton and floss, DMC #5, #8 Perle Cotton and floss, Threadworx #5 Perle Cotton, Threadworx #8 Braid, Kreinik #8, #12 Braid and 1/16” Ribbon, Vineyard Silk Classic and Shimmer, Caron Impressions, Gloriana Princess Perle, Planet Earth Silk Opal, Rainbow Gallery Flair and is embellished with glass crystals and hand-dyed pearls. The colour palette is turquoise, copper and rust accented with magenta. This piece won an Honorable Mention at ANG 2012 in Philadelphia. This is an Intermediate/Advanced level piece.
Stitches used include Satin, Waffle and Waffle Variation, Tent, Smyrna, Basketweave, Jessica, Rhodes and Round Rhodes, Amadeus, Triple Cross, Oblong Cross, Alternating ½ Cross, Eyelet Variation, Sprats Head, Cashmere Variation, Staggered Diagonal Upright Cross, Ray and Walnetto Trame.
