“Santa Fe” pattern
Inspired by shapes cut out of black construction paper and dropped onto white paper to form a design “Santa Fe” is a sampler of canvas stitches suitable for finishing either as a wall hanging, box or handbag insert. This piece introduces many different stitches while exploring working with colour and creating texture. Techniques such as working on the diagonal, compensation and Bargello will be taught. The project is stitched using DMC #3 and #5 Perle Cotton, Gloriana Lorikeet, Sassa Lynne #5 Perle Cotton, Dinky Dyes #5 Perle Cotton, Kreinik #4 and #8 Braid, Threadworx #5 Perle Cotton and Caron using a colour palette of Southwest colours such as turquoise and terra cotta.
Stitches include Tent & Slanted Gobelin Combination, Double Straight, Diagonal Mosaic, Checkered, Bargello, Rhodes, Upright Cross, Kalem, Jacquard, Rice, Scotch Variation and Long.
