“Marisol” pattern
Inspired by the geometric patterns found in Arabian floor tiles “Marisol” is a sampler of canvas stitches suitable for finishing either as a wall hanging. The main goal of this course is to introduce the canvasworker to iIntermediate and advanced stitches such as “spirograph” type stitches and laid fillings while exploring techniques such as Blackwork and traming. The project is stitched using Anchor and DMC Perle Cotton, Kreinik #8 Braid and Cord, Caron Impressions, Watercolours and Snow, DMC Floss and Floche, Planet Earth 6 ply Silk, Vineyard Silk Shimmer, Threadworx #8 Perle Cotton, Bijoux, Rainbow Gallery Cresta d’Oro and is embellished with Swarovski pearls and crystals. The colour palette is the southwest colours of turquoise, rust, gold and copper.
Stitches include Diagonal Cross, Double Fan Doubled, Horizontal Brick, Traming with Horizontal Staggered Gobelin, Honeycomb, Smyrna Cross, Alternating Scotch, Basketweave, Jessica, Triple Cross, Long-Armed Cross, Sprats Head and Waffle. This piece won an Honorable Mention at ANG 2014 in Chicago. This is an Intermediate/Advanced piece.
